Steampunk Legolas
Long version or the short version?
Long version:
Johanna made me read Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld (neglecting to mention that it's book 2 in a trilogy) So I read it, and it was World War I, only it was steampunk, and they were in Istanbul, and the book was illustrated by Keith Thompson and I loved it.
So then I felt like trying to draw steampunk, and instead I just sat at the computer and drooled over Mr. Thompson's art. And then Johanna said we should watch the extended Fellowship of the Ring, and I was like "no I gotta draw steampunk" so then she's suggested that we draw LOTR characters as steampunk people. And of course I agreed, so while Merry was breaking things and Frodo was being stabbed I drew this:
Short version:
I drew steampunk Legolas:
So then today I drew this: (it was really hard not to Google "steampunk Legolas" but I didn't because I wanted it to come out of my own head)

And I liked it, and Johanna liked it but she said I should try it again.
So then today I drew this: (it was really hard not to Google "steampunk Legolas" but I didn't because I wanted it to come out of my own head)
Which I like.
That's it folks, the story of how I drew steampunk Legolas. Exciting no? No. Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Black Velvet Cape
I've had this wonderful black velvety material for most of a year. (Actually I'm not sure it's velvet, it's light, soft and stretchy.) I always planned to made a cape out of it, but I never got around to it. Until yesterday.
da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I cut a square out for the hood, and then cut it into the shape I wanted. I'd already looked up patterns for hoods so cutting it from memory was no problem. Then I started to wonder about the cape part of the cape. So I thought, and looked at a pattern, and thought, and ended up with a very long, but not very wide cape. It's not what I had in mind, but I like it.

It's so looooong
I wanted to cut it shorter, but Mom made the brilliant
suggestion to add buttons to the inside so I could have it short or long.

Princess Anna Skirt Decals
I painted the decals on my Anna skirt today. I'm rather pleased with the result.
As it turns out acrylic paint thinned with vinegar works well as fabric paint. To make it stick you must iron it once it's dry. I used these as stencils.

The colours stand out better if you use white, and then go over it in colour.
Supplies,
knife, cutting board, stencil, acrylic paint, paint brush, and vinegar (:
Finished!
Three hours of work.
A closer look at the paint....

Pictures! 24/05/14
Here are some pictures from the last four days. If you follow my Flickr then you've already seen these, but I feel like posting them here too.
As it turns out, out of all of these this is my favourite picture.
I had this in mind and tried it half heartly two days in a row.
I think this is from the second try.
Flower.
It was way to hot to wear tights, but I didn't really care....
A different part of the beach.
Feeling so uninspiored, so I spelled out random things on the Scrabble board.
Pencils!
I never use coloured pencils anymore, but I got them out and coloured with them.
And then took pictures of them :P
And then took pictures of them :P

Pictures Because It was Spring Two Days Ago
The sun finally came out and it stopped raining long enough for me to go outside. I was so pleased with the weather that took my iPod and took 160 pictures (no joke). It was awesome to just stop caring about sharpness and composition for a while. I have several pictures that I am very happy with, so I thought I'd share them here; you know the drill (augh, not the drill!)
Barbwire fence around your flower bed.
Seems legit.
Touch the sky
Touch your feathers to the breeze...
Garden gate
Ah so pretty, I like gates.
Expressions
These are so much fun!
Plus a cool filter that makes my eyes look BLUE.
it's a jungle out there....
Wow, I am packing as many references into this as I possibly can, aren't I?
Aren't I. Aren't I.
Hey look, I walk like normal people.
Hey, I don't always walk with a camera pointed at my face,
but when I do I always try to smile.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooo
It's so windy
I personally think this is really cool.
I NEED A HERO
no no no no I FEEL like a hero.
um...... carry on.
Thistles as high as an elephants eye.
Seriously, they are taller than I am.
DO YOU HAVE FOOD?
Wow it's so windy, and I can't keep my hair out of my face.
Phew I managed it.
I waited here for you while you were gone
Whenever someone goes out for a walk J.W.
lays in the ally way and waits for them to return.

Captain Frozen
I send Johanna this picture. And then she said Kristoff as the Falcon! And I was like oh yes.
So this happened.
So this happened.
Booyakasha.
Kristoff as the Falcon.
Annnd then this sort of happened:
Captain Anna
So of course I had to draw Elsa as the Winter Soldier
And to complete the set I drew Hans as Brock Rumlow (that Hydra hit man dude).
Which seems to be a mistake, Has doesn't really look like Hans....
But it was fun anyways (:
This is Fabulous
Seriously, I've been watching this for five minutes.
